A collaborative workshop in the frame of the European ECHOES project on 9 and 10 December in Marseille

On 9 and 10 December, a collaborative research workshop was held in Marseille as part of the European ECHOES EU project coordinated by Xavier Rodier (CNRS) and co-hosted by the Fondation des Sciences du Patrimoine and the CNR ISPC – Institute of Heritage Science.

This workshop brought together professionals and researchers from the MAP laboratory, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Heritage Conservation and Restoration (CICRP) and the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MUCEM), as well as the DARIAH ERIC research infrastructure and the French node of E-RIHS, co-organisers of the workshop, and the FEMS – Federation of European Materials Societies.

During these two days of discussions, participants were invited to reflect on scenarios for interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of heritage, through observation of professional practices and the place of digital tools in their research activities.
On the first day, these discussions were guided by the observation of an object chosen by the CICRP teams in the morning and by the MUCEM in the afternoon.
The second day took place at the MAP laboratory to discuss the lessons learned from the previous day and the prospects for collaboration generated for the future European Cloud for Cultural Heritage.

The results of this work will feed into ECHOES Work Package 3 (Collaborative Research Practices), providing concrete scenarios drawn from French professional realities to guide the design of the ECHOES platform and the development of its future services. These results will also provide valuable information for Work Package 4 (Building a New Community), which focuses on understanding the digital practices and needs of different cultural heritage communities.
